Woo!

Well, there are certain advantages to working in a school then. Apart from the wonderfully long holidays.

Here in London, UK, we've had a load of snow. The English are usually incapable of dealing witha small amount of snow, let alone a real proper dose of it. Oh, and according to the papers, it's the wrong type of snow. It's 'sticky' snow, whatever that means.

Anyway, yesterday was snow and so the school was closed so I got the day off.

Today the school is apparently too icey for the kids to be there and is therefore too dangerous. So school was closed again! GET IN!

Why?

I'm not sure why I've been attracted to blogging. There seems to be something about it. Perhaps the creative bit - I'm not entirely sure.

Many times I've tried to blog and many times I've gone back and erased posts to start afresh. I suppose I've yet to find my focus. With so many stories in the press about people getting busted because of their blogs, I suppose I've felt a certain element of danger with being honest as well.

But what's the point of a blog if it isn't honest? If you can't express yourself without limit, if you can't just let your guts spill out on the keyboard? For this reason, at least for the time being, my profile is blank.

So who am I? I teach Science in a secondary school. I don't seem to have had a good lot with teaching to be honest. I trained is a really tough failed school. No, sorry, it's now an 'improving' school. Meaning that if it hadn't been closed down and reopened as a 'Fresh Start' school then it would be in special measures. The staff were good but the kids were awful, and the paperwork was insurmountable. I taught in an all girls RC school and was bored. I'm now teaching at a good comprehensive where I like teaching the kids, the kids on the whole like me and there's a variety of abilities to get to grips with - all good stuff. But my head of department is a bitch and has been bullying me and putting me down since I've been there. Doesn't help in a stressful occupation like teaching.

I'll no doubt expand upon this stuff at a later date. Cheers for reading. Not that anyone is....
